INSIGHTS OF MEDICAL CAMP 2017, SJKT NIBONG TEBAL

A few months back, my friend suggested me to lead Medical Camp, being afraid up to take the responsibility, I gave him a sign of disagreement, and his reply was just a nod saying that I will be fine. “The beautiful thing about fear is, when you run to it, it runs away” Robin Sharma quoted once. Holding on to those wise words and putting my trust on my friend, I took the project into my hands. As promised, my friend was there for me throughout the project, holding me firm whenever I stumble. Never knew the first guy I met in university would turn out to be one of my strongest pillar. A brother–like figure, Deva is to me.
Sitting down at a café near to our hostel, within minutes we discussed and came up with the committee’s list. Born was a family of dedicated and supportive people; Kesavan, Gajjhen, Muthu, Deva, Shanba, Kavi, Thines, Arvind, Kethis, ,Yuva, Vikna, Neeru, Sakti and Kartika. Together, we worked towards one goal, burying the need to serve the community with love and passion. Like any other team, we had our arguments and misunderstandings which led us to better roads making it easier to cross the bridges. And I wouldn’t deny the fact that there were holes in my leadership, as I believe, making mistakes is better than faking perfections. One must learn to give and receive critics, defending our flaws will bring us to nowhere. Despite everything, we made a WONDERFUL TEAM and I couldn’t have asked for better. A million thanks, I owe to each and one of them. (All the first and second years.) Shall the dramas be in our memories to be laughed upon in the future.
Also, I would like to thank all our seniors for molding us to who we are today. Without your coaching and guidance during our first year, we definitely wouldn’t have done it. Special thanks to Tharveen ne , Uma ne, Vishnuwaaran ne, Mark ne, Joanna, Abbirami ka, Mohaaneesh ne and Thava ka for your advices and support, Vinessa akka for your medical equipment, Kisnan anne and Melvin for driving the publicity team around and for all those who attended the event.
This event was a joint effort of Engineering Indian Cultural Club USM, Consumer’s Association, Organ Donation Organization, Hospital Baling, and AIMST University. Jallikatu Throwback-

Sitting in our comfortable coach, scrolling our Facebook feeds and watching the havoc in Tamil Nadu doesn't seem to give an answer to our questions about why are Tamilians protesting so intensely for Jallikatu. So I decided to get on the ground to check out myself. Let me give you a brief idea about the scenario here. Men and women dressed up in black, marching like ants in the narrow roads of India, sandwiched between closed shops, under scorching hot sun with slight cool breeze tickling the ears to get to the protesting ground located at Thamukam. Kids are seen wearing bull masks, teenagers in their motorbikes whistling, students carrying posters which says"We Support Jallikatu" and "Say No to PETA" showing their support for Jallikatu. The local news channels announced the shut down of schools and colleges. After chatting with some of the locals here,I understood the deeper consequences of banning Jallikatu. Besides playing a main role in Jallikatu, bull...

Friends=Wealth

It is so quiet that I could hear the fan blowing the still air around my small closed room in the hostel creating a soothingly rhythmic sound. The fluorescent light from my table lamp is glaring at my metallic bottle giving me a reflection of myself. Unable to express my feelings, I kept staring at it and drowned in deep thoughts. Friends. Just a simple seven letter word which has shown me all seven colours of rainbow. If I am to thank God, I would definitely thank him first for giving me a beautiful family and second for giving me family-like friends. Sisters and brothers by heart whom I am so blessed to have. “Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are”, goes the saying. It is indeed an undeniable fact that most of our actions, thoughts and words resemble our friends. Partly, because we grew up holding hands and walking along the corridors of our schools, sharing every piece ourselves to the one beside us. From our favourite meal to our latest video game. We...
